Welcome to the Show
Welcome to the wild world of the Free Form Rock Podcast, where we embrace every riff, solo, and scandalous hairdo from the glorious era of rock! If you’re a purist, a metal elitist who believes that any sound that isn’t an 8-minute guitar solo is akin to sacrilege, then this is your warning: you might want to turn down the volume and stick to your ‘perfect’ playlist filled with only the heaviest and most obscure bands that your no-caffeine diet can handle. Here, we celebrate everything from shaking your head to classic rock anthems to moshing like a maniac at a metal concert! We love all the forms of rock—classic, metal, and everything in between. So, if your idea of a good time is debating over which band had the best leather pants, you’re in for quite the ride! Sit back, relax, and remember: we don’t take ourselves too seriously—because if we did, we’d be stuck in the ‘70s, arguing over whether Led Zeppelin was better than Black Sabbath while wearing questionable platform shoes. Join us as we rock out the way rock was meant to be—loud, unapologetic, and just a little ridiculous! Tune in, turn it up, and let’s jam through the delightful chaos of our favorite tunes together!

Our tracks of the week are David Lindley’s “Mercury Blues” and Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4.” We conclude with a song by Lee called “Maybe As If.” Sticks and stones can’t break solid good music. Our tracks of the week are The Bangles’ “Hero Takes A Fall” and Goodthunder’s “Barking At The Ants.” We close the episode with a song by Lee called, “Maybe As If.” Kick back and enjoy!

R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen
It is an unfortunate and almost unbelievable moment for us to have heard about the passing of our generation’s most innovative guitar player. We talk about our experiences listening to Eddie’s playing and the group Van Halen. We play some of our favorite Van Halen songs and we also have special guest reminiscences from Devin Dungan, Robert Hay and Edwin Cannistraci. It is a sad time but we hope you might enjoy hearing about a brilliant musician whose music will live on. Peace.

Steppenwolf - Monster
On this episode, we review the band’s fourth studio album. The album was a more purposeful attempt at a concept album including songs of protest. Maybe one of us does not totally agree with all the lyrics. Our tracks of the week are Rod Stewart’s “All In The Name Of Rock ‘N’ Roll” and Andy Taylor’s “Don’t Let Me Die Young.” We close the episode with Lee’s song “Why Did You Plan It.” Kick back and listen. You’ll have a good time. #steppenwolf #classicrock

Survivor - Too Hot To Sleep
On this episode, are we feeling the effects of the album title or do we have fans to help us cool off? Either way, we review a somewhat obscure later album by a group who had more to offer than their big hits. Our tracks of the week are Survivor's "Burning Heart" and The Ides of March's "Baby's Gonna Grow." We finish with Lee's song "Building Hope", written to words by Henry James MacLafferty. Stay cool... don't be too hot to sleep... survive and have fun!
